Today Democratic state Senate candidate Kim Villella released a positive 30-second campaign advertisement advocating herself for the job – a seat that is one of four top-tier Senate races this year.
The ad stresses Villella’s desire to attract high tech jobs to Pennsylvania, as well as to restore education funding.
The ad opens with a shot of Villella as a young woman, saying she “started her first business at 19, and grew it into five,” making her a “proven job creator with a plan.”

The ad goes on to say that she will introduce a “Made in Pennsylvania” tax incentive to attract business to invest in the state and create high-tech jobs.
“And because the jobs of tomorrow run through the schoolhouse door,” the advertisement states, “Villella will stand up to Governor Corbett to restore funding to our classrooms.”
This note is meant to contrast the record of Villella’s opponent, incumbent Sen. Elder Vogel (R-Beaver). He voted for GOP state budgets in 2011 and 2012 that have been heavily criticized by public school advocates.
The ad closes with a request from Villella asking for votes to bring common-sense solutions to Harrisburg.
SD-47 includes Beaver County and part of Lawrence and leans Dem in registration, though it has been trending Republican in recent years. Vogel won election in 2008 after incumbent Democratic Sen. Gerald J. LaValle resigned amid ethics concerns.
The ad will air on cable throughout the district. A Republican source said the buy was a relatively light $21,000.
The spot was produced by Devine Mulvey, a Democratic media consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. The live-action shots within the advertisement were shot by Ron Brown of Grogan and Graffam in Pittsburgh.
