Lentz Campaign Releases New Web Ad Unveiling Pat Meehan’s “Priceless” Debate Performance

Springfield, PA – While money can buy a candidate a lot of things in politics—consultants, slick brochures, a television ad campaign – there’s one thing it can’t pay for. The ability for that candidate to speak for himself and make convincing arguments when they are out in front of voters.

Today, the Lentz Campaign released a new tongue-in-cheek web commercial ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeFTN1u0MSE ) that illustrates this truth in the race between Democrat Bryan Lentz and his Republican opponent Pat Meehan in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District. The ad unveils the real Pat Meehan standing behind the millions of dollars in corporate special interest money, using footage from a debate that took place last week.

Throughout the entire debate, Meehan was unable to make understandable arguments, stumbling badly while trying to piece together the talking points his handlers had prepared for him. Lentz, on the other hand, showed the clear command of domestic and foreign policy issues that he has gained in his years as an Airborne Ranger, tough-on-crime prosecutor and state representative.

The stark contrast even prompted one Philadelphia Daily News reporter to observe in an article that recapped the debate: .

“Lentz was clearly the superior debater Tuesday, delivering concise answers, while Meehan, sweating heavily, often fell back on generalities and stumbled through his closing statement.”

The commercial offers the clearest explanation yet why Pat Meehan’s campaign has been in virtual hiding throughout the entire campaign. At the same time that Bryan Lentz has been going around the District holding public town halls, Meehan’s handlers have been careful to make sure that their candidate only makes a handful of unpublicized appearances in tightly controlled settings.

A former Airborne Ranger, criminal prosecutor and Iraq War veteran, Bryan Lentz currently serves in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from Delaware County. He was awarded both the Bronze Star for Service and the War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal for his military service. He lives in Swarthmore with his wife Jennifer and their son Thomas.
