Lewis Suspends Congressional Bid, Launches State House Campaign

Republican Andrew Lewis announced he is suspending his Congressional campaign after the redraw of the Congressional districts, and is instead running to replace retiring state House Rep. Ron Marsico.

“Over the past month, the progressive Pennsylvania Supreme Court has decided to redraw the entire Pennsylvania congressional map with less than three months until the primary election. To this day, the map is still not final as there are multiple appeals in federal court from people across the political spectrum. That being said, it appears, based on the court-drawn map, that I will now be represented by one of the best conservatives in Washington, Congressman Scott Perry, and I could not be more excited to support his campaign as he prepares to run in his newly drawn district,” Lewis said.

Lewis’ decision to run for the state House comes after he “received numerous calls from fellow members of our community asking me to consider running for State Representative Ron Marsico’s seat.”

Lewis will reportedly bring around $200,000 from his Congressional campaign accounts into his state House campaign.

  1. PA Constitution II§ 5. Qualifications of members.
Senators shall be at least 25 years of age and Representatives 21 years of age. They shall have been citizens and inhabitants of the State four years, and inhabitants of their respective districts one year next before their election (unless absent on the public business of the United States or of this State), and shall reside in their respective districts during their terms of service.

  2. Opportunist in Chief, Andy Lewis, strikes again. His new slogan:

“I just want a taxpayer-funded paycheck. Private sector work is hard.”

  3. good choice Andrew maybe I will support you for this race better than congress now due to redistricting process now.

    1. I hate to see candidates get so caught up in themselves they go down this path of run for every office out there. In past 2 years Lewis lost to John DiSanto, was getting steamrolled by Danny Meuser (who has never won himself), and now wants to be a state rep? Red flag.

  4. All the rats are scrambling for the lifeboats now. It is funny to see the political types on both sides try to figure what is there best in to get elected to something. To put some fun back in politics, they should redraw all the congressional, PA senate and house district lines every 2 years right before petition circulation time. That would guarantee some new blood.

But that’s no way to run a government – almost as bad as putting a failed businessman / reality TV star in the White House – can’t imagine that happening.

  5. This guy is becoming a sideshow with his constant run for anything approach. State Senate, Congess, now House. Does he really have a job? How can he have a real job and run for this many positions in last 3 years?

    1. There’s no doubt he’s in it for self-service not public service. Hopefully the people can see through this clown

  6. Sad to hear that he is no longer running for Congress but what an excellent person to be our State Representative!!

  7. Lewis has lived in Marsico’s district for only 6 months and has already run for 2 offices. He has run for 3 separate offices in 2 years. Time to grow up and get a real job. Nobody wants to elect the desperate carpet bagger.

    1. Clearly you don’t know the residency regulations. Even if it was true he’s only lived their six months ( it’s not true he’s been there much longer) that would still meet the one year requirement.

      1. Could you point to where Rolling my eyes suggested that he did not meet the legal residency requirement? A candidate can meet the legal requirements and still be a carpetbagger. The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

      2. You are right Legal Advice, Andrew has lived in the district much longer than 6 months. He moved into the district in June 2017, so he has lived there 8 months. That definitely means his opponents won’t call him a carpetbagger now. (Please note I am being sarcastic. I feel like I need to point that out because you don’t seem like the type of person that would pick that up)
