Liberal Super PAC Protests Fitzpatrick Remarks

About two dozen protesters gathered outside Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick’s Bucks County office Thursday, accusing him of accusing President Obama of treason. Fitzpatrick had criticized the President for his recent ‘hot mic’ remarks to the President of Russia.

CREDO, the Super PAC organizing the protest, called Fitzpatrick’s comments paranoid.

“Congressman Fitzpatrick is embarrassing Pennsylvania by spreading paranoid Tea Party lies and conspiracy theories,” said Michael Eagle, Credo SuperPAC’s Pennsylvania District Director. “Fitzpatrick should apologize to President Obama for accusing him of treason immediately, and stop kowtowing to his fellow Tea Party extremists.”

Three weeks ago at a campaign event, Fitzpatrick hit upon what has become a favorite Republican reference: President Obama’s hot mic moment with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev.

“On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me space,” Obama told Medvedev, who promised to relay it to Vladmir Putin. And, “This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.”

Fitzpatrick picked up on the theme at a meeting with the Bucks County Kitchen Table Patriots Tea Party (video) and, like many conservatives who responded to Obama’s remarks, exaggerated slightly.

Said Fitzpatrick:

“When he left the microphone on in Russia, we all heard what he said … left unrestrained, without the inhibitions of the next election — he’d have flexibility, he said, flexibility to do what he wants to do. Whether it’s trade away … the secrets of our national intelligence, to, what he could do to the United States Supreme Court in the next four years.”

The CREDO Super PAC, based in San Francisco, is targeting ten Republican incumbents across the country. The group has opened an office in Fitzpatrick’s 8th district and has four full-time staffers.

The group highlighted the comments – and a video of Fitzpatrick speaking – and shopped them around to the Huffington Post and Think Progress.

It’s part of an effort to brand Fitzpatrick as an out of touch conservative, despite the fact that Fitzpatrick votes against the GOP more than almost any other Republican in Congress (6th lowest party score out of 244 members).

More than Fitzpatrick’s voting record, the effort dovetails with Democratic hopes to retake the House. He is considered the most vulnerable Republican member of Congress from Pennsylvania.

Fitzpatrick’s campaign deferred to the National Republican Congressional Committee to respond. NRCC spokesman Nat Sillian took a swing at Fitzpatrick opponent Kathy Boockvar, an attorney from Bucks County.

“How unsurprising that radical activist Kathy Boockvar has gotten the left-wing fringe super PAC CREDO to stage a faux protest.  It’s crystal clear to rational and reasonable folks in Bucks County that the rhetoric of Boockvar’s activist cronies at CREDO is disingenuous and hollow,” Sillin said.

He criticized Boockvar’s former employer, the Advancement Project, a civil rights organization that seeks community-based solutions for racial injustice. The group counts as a board member, “left-wing bomb throwers like Harry Belafonte,” Sillin added.

Campaigns like Boockvar’s are not permitted to coordinate with super PACs like Credo. A spokesman didn’t comment on the protest, but did fire back at the NRCC.

“The NRCC’s comments embody Washington politics at their worst,” said Boockvar Campaign Manager Jon Blair, “and are nothing more than a laughable and transparent attempt to hide what they know they cannot defend: Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick’s repeated votes to end Medicare as we know it, to strip women of their basic rights to heathcare and privacy, and to force hard working Americans to pay the billion dollar tax bills that his big oil contributors don’t.”

  1. @trustbutverify Thank you for your contribution of what Kathy is for making me a stronger warrior against the right wing ideology that is very bad for PA and our district.
American Women United org. who will VOTE! Vote for Kathy in Congress!!!

  2. Kathy Boockvar for Women’s Rights: Pro-Choice, Equal Pay, Human rights, and Voter Rights. Lets put male dominance where it belongs, in the gutter. Stop the 1% welfare greed off of the 99%. I’m tired of paying more tax to cover them. Let’s make the right wing give up those entitlements their enjoying now along with their fair wage advantage from unions when your elected Let’s put their foot in their mouth!

Kathy Boockvar for Congress !!! I’M FIRED UP and ready to GO!

    .

  3. Cheryl..all that I posted about Boockvar is true. Ask her, she is an active member of all those seditious organizations, the ACLU, the National Lawyer’s Guild (defenders of convicted terrorists who killed Americans), the Advancement Project. Big left-wing Murphy was ousted by his own. All are facts. Boockvar supports abortion and is against integrity of elections because she vehemently opposes voter i.d. laws. She wants to continue to spend our taxdollars to promote dependency on entitlements rather than fiscal personal responsibility. I wonder if she runs her household finances or law practice finances like that?

  4. Maybe Congressman Fitzpatrick and his supporters can tell me why 1% people like John Paulson should not be paying some of his taxes to FICA?
He made 5 Billion dollars betting against the mortgages, betting they would fail, his hedge fund comp is taxed at 15%…but is exempt from FICA.
Even the lowest paid citizen, working for minimum wage is taxed for FICA.

  5. It’s interesting to read the right-wingers’ attempts to portray anything short of scrapping even the most modest programs of the social safety net we’ve had in place for generations as some sort of radical left-wing agenda. Ms. Boockvar pointed to several disturbing positions Rep. Fitzpatrick has held which clearly conflict with positions that have been firmly established in the US since at least 1965, when Medicare was created. Have the right wing commenters, Mr. Sillin included, done anything in response to CREDO’s protest beyond spewing the same sort of fear tactics that Fitzpatrick was exploiting with his suggestion that President Obama may trade away national security secrets to Putin?

Maybe Fitzpatrick’s fellow tea-baggers can get back to the rest of us when they find an example of extreme budget cuts for the most vulnerable during a recession leading to job creation and economic growth for the majority of Americans. The policies of Fitzpatrick and a GOP that has been hijacked by the Tea Party would take us back to the days of the robber barons, and turn back all the progress we’ve achieved since. Just look at the Paul Ryan budget, which Fitzpatrick voted for, it’s written in plain ink!

  6. When you open CREDO’s website you do not have to read one word in order to ascertain this is a George Soros, Van Jones, Frances Piven off-shoot. Mike Fitzpatrick must be sleeping soundly each night knowing this is the best his competitor(s) can do.
“trustbutverify” – thank you for the background info on Bookvar. While I appreciate it, admittedly I am not surprised.

  7. Levittown is a census-designated place (CDP) and planned community not a municipality.

Levittown’s 42 neighborhoods (locally called “sections”) are found in parts of four separate municipalities:
    • Bristol Township (including the sections of Drexelwood, Plumbridge, Mill Creek, Indian Creek, Goldenridge, Blue Ridge, Whitewood, Orangewood, Yellowood, Violetwood, Red Cedar Hill, Apple Tree Hill, Holly Hill, Crabtree Hollow, Oaktree Hollow, Greenbrook, Farmbrook, Dogwood Hollow, Junewood, Magnolia Hill, Green Lynne and most of Kenwood and Stonybrook, and a small part of Birch Valley)
    • Falls Township (including the sections of Vermillion Hill, Thornridge, Elderberry Pond, North Park, Willow Wood, and portions of Pinewood, Lakeside and most of Birch Valley and 1 house in Magnolia Hill)
    • Middletown Township (including the sections of Deep Dale East, Deep Dale West, Highland Park, Twin Oaks, Forsythia Gate, Snowball Gate, Red Rose Gate, Upper Orchard, Lower Orchard, Juniper Hill, Cobalt Ridge and Quincy Hollow)
    • Borough of Tullytown (including portions of Stonybrook, Kenwood, Pinewood and Lakeside)

  8. Well..I tried a decent discussion here and the person I addressed is not replying. I wanted him to explain his comment so we could discuss it. I also live in Bristol Twp…and we had a Republican Mayor and her republican neighbor on council, nothing notable got accomplished then either.
I am a Democrat Liberal, and back 2 decades I and another citizen petitioned the existing council to change the structure of the housing rehab program from an outright grant to a loan program. The funding comes from HUD. We convinced them it would be cost effective and most fair to make low interest loans instead of gifts, the money gets paid back at arms length sale of house. It puts money back into the program to shorten the waiting list which at that time was over 2 years. It was approved and has been very successful. So don’t be so certain Liberals cannot accomplish something good. The corruption you cite is not exclusive to Bristol Township either.
As for the comment from Scott about Levittown and Congressman Fitzpatrick coming from Levittown he needs to know that Levittown is not a town, it is a post office zip code. There are 4 Levittown zip codes, and one is in Bristol Township where the Congressman comes from. Fairless Hills has one zip code but is divided by 2 townships, Bristol Township and Falls Township. Politicos in Falls not so clean either.

  9. You made derogatory remarks about “tea baggers” and then went into a 9 comment diatribe where no one even addressed you.

And the comment about Bristol Township? Where the hell did that come from? I live in the township and under the last 30 years of local Democrats it’s fallen to pieces, FBI investigations, arrests of former managers and nepotism to unimaginable levels.

People like you give give liberals a bad name. Instead of a decent and fair discussion you go off the deep end and engage in conjured up arguments with yourself.

  10. @Scott Like I told you a while back, your not worth the air you breath or the ground you walk on.

  11. Klatt is German and my married name. I’m English and Irish stupid! It’s apparent somebody has something against Jewish people? The right wing has a racist problem and needs to look at themselves in the mirror before they judge other people.

  12. @Scott…

Would you please explain this statement of yours:
“I don’t want to insult anyone on here but being A white female Liberal Jew is just not gonna play.”

  13. Dear Scott…
Please explain your comment about being a white female Jew. If you are referring to Cherylann you have her ethnicity wrong. Are you making value judgements based on a name? Additionally, Levittown spans 4 municipalities…there are large income gaps in all 4 Levittowns as well, some people are just treading water, especially the older people on fixed income whose property taxes are punitive. There are no large trailer parks in Bristol, and there is no shame in being poor, so what is your point? Are you saying the wealthy people of Bucks County will vote for Fitzpatrick and keep him in office? Are you saying people who do not have wealth or have low paying jobs or no jobs are not intelligent? Just what is it you are saying and do you want to say the Fitzpatrick does not represent the poor people in Lower Bucks, that he does not care about them because he believes their votes do not count? Is that what you are saying?

  14. Who ever heard of a girl named Scott. It’s Scott and his girlfriend from Fit’z page. Did you ever get a job yet? Does your mother know your here?

  15. It looks like Scott from the Warminster area is on here, I know it’s him. He likes to point out the neighborhoods trying to degrade while he’s a young 20’s something, not working and living with his mother, This little baby had his mother after us. He hasn’t learned his lesson yet. I smell him!

  16. @Jess, real intelligent of you to come on our site shooting your mouth off isn’t it? Is your life that miserable? Perhaps you better start fact checking your politics from the republican party and get informed from fact & fiction if you want to play a game of Hard Ball. This way you won’t make a fool of yourself. .

I’ve learned all I need to know about you already and it’s not good. A sorry bunch!

  17. So I have lived in Bristol Twp (dems) since I was born. Your scared and you should be. I find it interesting that we have to always fact check the tea hats to correct what they say. Now who is coming to who to start trouble when you ARE CLEARLY NOT a member. I can bet tea party Rob Boysen & Lillian sent you. Good grief!, poor Scotty boy is having wet dreams of fantasy. LOL!

Thanks, it’s people like you who are doing a good job of degrading your party. This is the best that they can do and it’s not impressive. Don’t come on here without the facts from FACTCheck or you will make a fool of yourselves as we correct you.

  18. Hey there tea bags, I see you can’t control yourselves to see what we’re up too and give us a little repub rhetoric. Oh, I know about the tea hats. What’s the matter, your headquarters getting a little boring to you? You get what you deserve, your BS back. I know how to play your games. You define yourselves and have nothing to contribute or debate. You repubs have a quality of liking to harass. You display a fine example of your party and why people have had enough.

You have nothing to say we haven’t heard already, it’s the same lines you pounce on us in every democratic site and your method clearly states your intelligence and why I try to answer so you can comprehend. There’s know talking nice while you try to play stupid with us. Give me a break!

  19. Cherylann,

How come most of those signs look like they are in the same handwriting?

  20. I have lived in Bucks County since I was 3 which is like 95% of the 8th district. This is not a liberal place or a conservative place. Upper Bucks is a wealthy country club Republicans . Middle Bucks has very liberal parts like New Hope and Doylestown which has yuppie liberal types, artsy people, gays, some old hippies. Then there is lower bucks which has much large income gaps: Wealth in places like Lower Makefeild, Newtown, Yardley. Poor areas like Croydon with large trailer parks in Bristol. Then there is a solid middle class in places like Levitown and fairless hills. Mike Fitzpatrick is from there. He is not going to lose to this chick. She will not play with these the swing voters.

I don’t want to insult anyone on here but being A white female Liberal Jew is just not gonna play. This area is stuck in 50’s. Fitz holds this seat with about 52-53%

  21. Most of these folks are intellectually bankrupt, they do no more than spew emotional rhetoric Democrat talking points. Usually not based in any fact.

  22. Cherylann…..now that is quite the intelligent and articulate retort. Name calling and profanity…typical of the left. Credo has obviuosly no clue what the residents of bucks county are all about. San fransisco leftist politics have been resoundingly rejected here…that is why Patrick Murphy was ousted..as a congressman, and just a few weeks ago by his own party in the democratic primary. Boockvar is even more Leftist than murphy and does not stand a chance. Her ties with the aclu, pro-abortion, national lawywers guild and many other extreme fringe groups shows she is a better fit for san fransisco or chicago socialist politics. Not bucks county.

  23. Just what could Obama possibly do to the Supreme Court? Abolish it? Do you have a logical answer? And why do you assume having flexibility means he will engage in treason and not some agreement to limit nuclear arms? How do you know what he is thinking? You cannot make statements based because you do not like him, you have to give the facts. And patriots do not take paychecks.

  24. Sorry, the majority of the 8th district hate you right wing nuts. You kid yourselves, that is why you are dumb ass holes.

  25. We need a paddy wagon to pick up the lost Byberry patients from here. Their desperate little souls are lost and will need shock treatments..

  26. Boockvar is a FAR LEFT loon, actually CREDO represents her views perfectly well. Boockvar’s former employer the “Advancement Project” is an effort of the communist National Lawyers Guild of which both Boockvar and her equally radical Leftist husband Jordan Yaeger are tried and true Board members. The National Lawyers Guild makes the ACLU look like a quilting club…the NLG counted amongst it’s members Lynn Stewart, lawyer convicted for actively supporting Islamic terrorists involved in killing Americans. The NLG actively defended Lynn Steward. This is what Boockvar is about…definitely and wildly out of touch with the majority of voters in the 8th District of PA.

  27. Big oil contributions? Fitzpatrick has constantly voted against oil subsidies. In 2005/2006 guess who did vote for them? Senator from Illinois, Mr. Obama

  28. These CREDO protesters look like a bunch of liberal loons with nothing better to do on a weekday/workday than go around and join make-pretend protests.

  29. Even the liberal San Francisco Chronicle newspaper has sourced on the wacky Occupy/CREDO types. If this is the best support that Bookvar can dredge up than she’s looking pretty desperate.

  30. I wonder how many of these “protesters” were from the 8th Congressional District?
