Litz Crosses the Finish Line in Pittsburgh

After three months on the campaign trail, Lebanon County Commissioner and Democratic candidate for governor, Jo Ellen Litz, has visited every county in the Commonwealth.

The 67-county tour ended on the steps of the Allegheny County Courthouse Monday, where her campaign staff had set up a finish line for Litz to ceremoniously run through.

Litz is the first candidate for governor to visit all 67 counties. In late August, Brad Koplinski, a candidate for lieutenant governor completed his tour of the state’s counties with a stop in Wayne County.

According to the campaign’s website, Litz aims to bring local government, small business and conservation experience to her gubernatorial bid.

“Local government is where the rubber meets the road, where business gets done, and I want to bring that experience to Harrisburg,” Litz told the Tribune-Review. “People are looking for someone with a background in business, conservation and local government to make decisions that are above politics.”

With the 67-county hurdle down, Litz told the Tribune-Review that the rest of her campaign before the primary would include county fairs, parades, economic summits and Jefferson-Jackson dinners.

In an October PoliticsPA Reader Poll, readers identified Litz as the candidate most likely to drop out of the gubernatorial race first. Forty percent of the more than 700 respondents said that Litz would be the first to leave the race.

  1. I hear her fundraising numbers are dynamite too. $135 at a spaghetti dinner in Red Lion ain’t nothing to sneeze at.

  2. Sure she may have visited all the counties, but how many people greeted and listened to her. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was anything similar to Rick Santorum meeting with 1 Iowa resident at an event he had held.
