Lt. Gov: Stack Has Wide Lead in Money Race

In the crowded Democratic primary for Lieutenant Governor, State Sen. Mike Stack finds himself in the lead in the all-important money race.

Stack raised $362,574 last year as well as carrying over an additional $289,973 from his previous campaigns.

Altogether he has $397,134 cash on hand.

Part of Stack’s fundraising success could possibly be explained by the fact that he was flirting with a bid for the top job during the summer before officially entering the contest for the No. 2 position in October.

A dive into the candidate’s financial report shows support from the usual suspects of state donors, including State Senate colleagues, insurance companies, law firms, unions and the Political Action Committee for Comcast. His largest single donor, however, was John Conway who gave $25,000.

While the candidate had ample fundraising success, he also showed a high burn rate. Overall, Stack spent $255,413 last year. A large chunk of that came from the $186,000 given to the WS Group. A Democratic firm in Harrisburg, they were likely subcontracted to do events, polling, and perhaps direct mail. Recently they merged with Fleck Consulting, to form Seven Points Consulting. The campaign also spent $1,000 with Perry Consulting.

One last intriguing tidbit: Stack’s campaign gave $1,000 to Brendan Boyle’s campaign in the similarly crowded PA-13 Democratic primary.

Also running for the Democratic nomination for Lt Gov are State Rep. Brandon Neuman, former Congressman Mark Critz, Harrisburg City Councilman Brad Koplinski, Bradford County Commissioner Mark Smith and Harrisburg advisor Dr. Brenda Alton.

  1. Yeah Sen. Stack, you’ve got some nerve, getting a car wash at tax payers expense – what is that like 8 whole bucks, give it back!

I have no idea if that’s true or not, but I just like the fact that’s somebody who hates Stack literally thought, paused, then wrote a comment bashing him.. and that that’s what they came up with.

    The horror! the horror!

  2. Stack is a P.O.S. A pay raise and pension grabbing slug who fleeces the taxpayer at every turn. Go get another car wash at taxpayer expense you bum!
