The Pennsylvania State Council of Sheet Metal Workers endorsed Bradford County Commissioner Mark Smith in the Lt. Gov. race.

“The Pennsylvania State Council of Sheet Metal Workers recently held its quarterly meeting, at which time we overwhelmingly, and proudly endorsed Mark Smith as our candidate for the Office of Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania,” said Warren Faust, Recording Secretary of the Pennsylvania State Council of Sheet Metal Workers.

“We look forward to the campaign ahead while standing by Mark’s side and helping him attain the position, for the betterment of our state.”

This is a biggie in the Lt. Gov. race, as other large statewide unions have yet to weigh in on the Democratic primary; it’s also Smith’s 19th labor endorsement in this race.

“I humbled by the endorsement of the Pennsylvania State Council of Sheet Metal Workers and the 6200 members and working families they represent. I’m excited to work with them throughout the rest of the campaign and beyond,” said Smith.

Smith entered the race with very little name recognition, after serving as the youngest Bradford County Commissioner since 2008. To win the nomination, he’ll have to defeat State Sen. Mike Stack, Harrisburg City Councilman Brad Koplinski, State Rep. Brandon Neuman and former Congressman Mark Critz; but Smith has been stockpiling money and endorsements that may help him overcome this wide field.
