Mayor Peduto Visits Cuba for Business

Peduto-portraitPittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto is currently in Cuba, where he hopes to improve business relations between his city and the island.

Peduto traveled with several businesses from Pittsburgh on a “manufacturing trade mission,” according to the Post-Gazette.

The trip, organized by Catalyst Connection, began on Sunday and will last until tomorrow.

A trade embargo is still in place between the U.S. and Cuba, although President Obama reopened some diplomatic relations with the country late last year.

“Pittsburgh is becoming an international model for sustainable development and manufacturing,” Peduto said in a statement. “I’m proud to join the manufacturing community as we represent the City, and its rebirth, as we build new ties with Cuba.”
