McCord Camp Hires Former Kane CM

Sadie Sterner
Sadie Sterner-Restivo

Experienced political hand Sadie Sterner-Restivo has joined Rob McCord’s campaign in the latest sign that the state Treasurer is gearing up for a run for Governor.

“I’m excited to be working with our state treasurer, Rob McCord,” Sterner-Restivo wrote in an email to McCord supporters, directing them to a survey on his website.

“As a mom from Western Pennsylvania, I’m looking for a governor who isn’t just a career politician. I’m looking for someone who has a record of making smart investments that deliver real results for Pennsylvania families.”

Sterner-Restivo has deep ties to Democratic and labor organizations, particularly in western Pa. In 2012 she was the campaign manager for Kathleen Kane’s tough win in the Democratic primary for Attorney General. She previously worked for Sen. Bob Casey, for McCord’s Treasurer campaigns, and with organized labor.

“Sadie is one of the best operatives in the state when it comes to Western Pennsylvania politics, organizing, and strategy and we’re fortunate to have her input and guidance,” said McCord campaign spokesman Mark Nevins.

She will be a senior advisor to the McCord campaign with an emphasis on Western Pennsylvania.

McCord has made a number of moves in recent days to gear up for a gubernatorial campaign announcement that is likely to take place sometime after Labor Day.

He updated his campaign website and has been building his staff for months. In June, he formed the campaign committee “McCord for Governor.”

If and when he gets in, he’ll join former DEP Secs. John Hanger and Katie McGinty, Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz and former Revenue Sec. Tom Wolf in the race to face Gov. Tom Corbett, among others.

  1. Great hire! Not only is Sadie good at campaign strategy but she really excels at keeping all the role players in a campaign in the loop. Communicates very well with everyone involved. She is especially good at getting back to people in the rural areas of her previous campaigns. When you work for a candidate in a fringe area as I have getting a call back with the information needed is truly a plus a candidate. Rob McCord for Governor.

  2. She was the 2008 McCord campaign staffer in western PA. She then ran the Treasurer’s Pittsburgh office for a while.
