Rob McCord has a new flack.

The State Treasurer recently hired Cameron Kline, the former Communications Director and Senior Advisor to State Senator Larry Farnese, as his Press Secretary. McCord is vying for the Democratic nomination in the upcoming gubernatorial election.

“I decided to join the campaign because I wanted to be part of the team that is helping Rob, the candidate that I think has the right experience and vision for Pennsylvania, to turn things around for the commonwealth,” Kline said.

Kline was first introduced to McCord in 2010 when the State Treasurer spoke at the Center for Progressive Leadership. Kline is a fellow with the organization.

“I was immediately impressed by Rob’s personal story, accomplishments in Harrisburg, and kindness. He’s a really good guy and it makes me happy that he’s a champion for the LGBT community,” Kline said.

Kline is openly gay and is a board member for the Liberty City LGBT Democratic Club. He publicly denounced the Boy Scouts for their discriminatory policies against gay men by returning his Eagle Scout Medal last year.

Kline’s past experience includes a position as the Communications Director for Philadelphia Gas Works as well as work as the Majority Election Inspector for Ward 39B, Division 7. He also was appointed to serve on SEPTA’s Citizen’s Advisory Board by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter.

McCord is going up against Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, former DEP Secretaries Katie McGinty and John Hanger, former Revenue Secretary Tom Wolf, Cumberland County minister Max Myers and Lebanon County Commissioner Jo Ellen Litz in the Democratic primary for governor.

  1. A leader surrounds themselves with smart people. I see more clearly that Rob McCord is that that leader.

  2. I don’t see a Tardis in that photo, so I don’t know why he thinks he can pull off that bow tie.

  3. Looks like Rob McCord has made yet another good decision in hiring Mr. Kline.
Good luck Mr. McCord. I find your background, education and willingness to address the issues refreshing. In my opinion, you would make a great governor.

  4. Cameron is a very knowledgeable professional, and will make a great addition to McCord’s team.
