McGinty Gets a Clinton Shoutout

Kathleen McGinty
Katie McGinty

Katie McGinty has worked to protect the environment throughout her public career. Thursday she got a thank you from former President Bill Clinton.

Clinton mentioned McGinty, who is currently running for the Democratic nomination for Governor, in his acceptance speech during the naming ceremony for the William Jefferson Clinton Federal Building.

McGinty was Pres. Clinton’s head of the Council of Environmental Quality as well as an advisor to Vice President Al Gore. In 2003 under Gov. Rendell, she became Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

Reported Politico:

Clinton also offered some humility, saying the building could also be named after Browner, former Council of Environmental Quality head Kathleen McGinty or former Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt, “and it certainly could be named for Al Gore.”

Other candidates for Governor include Rep. Allyson Schwartz, Treasurer Rob McCord, fellow former DEP John Hanger, Department of Revenue Secretary Tom Wolf, Lebanon County Democratic Commissioner Jo Ellen Litz, and pastor Max Myers.
