McGinty Speaks at Green Build Conference with Hillary Keynote

Former DEP Secretary Katie McGinty spoke at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo executive lunch yesterday in Philadelphia, the same conference where Hillary Clinton will deliver the keynote address today.

In her remarks, McGinty highlighted the fact that Pennsylvania was second only to California in LEED certified green buildings during her tenure as Secretary of the Department of Environmental Protection but has now dropped to 5th, a development that hurts the environment and costs jobs.

“Pennsylvania was second only to California in green buildings when I was DEP Secretary, but we have fallen in recent years,” McGinty said. “We can do better if we just take advantage of the building materials and supply companies already here and become a leader in developing a green build supply chain. Pennsylvania can and should lead these innovations because, not only is it good for the environment, but it creates jobs.”

In addition to being the Pennsylvania DEP secretary for five years, McGinty also served in the Clinton Administration as Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality. Her campaign’s press release focused on the Clinton connection at this week’s green build conference.

Just a few weeks ago, a Franklin and Marshall poll found Hillary Clinton to be the most popular politician in the state, so it’s no surprise that Democratic candidates across the state are clamoring to associate themselves with Mr. and Mrs. Clinton.

Earlier this month, Hillary Clinton praised Allyson Schwartz and her run for governor at the 10th Annual Pennsylvania Women’s Conference in Philadelphia. Schwartz later posted a picture of the two of them together on her Twitter account.

Clinton has avoided formal endorsements so far in the state, leaving many to speculate that she is trying not to take sides in a battleground state before her 2016 presidential run.

  1. I still want to know what McGinty’s husband’s job is re: the fracking industry. She should tell us if he is a lobbyist or whatever!!!
