Jeanne McNeill won her husband’s former seat in the state House in yesterday’s special election. Her husband, state Rep. Dan McNeill (D-Lehigh), passed away earlier this year.
“It’s truly bittersweet and emotional. My heart is still broken though I know Danny would want me to do this and told me to. I’m going to be strong and move forward for the people of the district, my family and friends and for Danny,” McNeill said last night, according to the Morning Call.
McNeill defeated Republican David Molony and Libertarian Samantha Dorney, receiving 68% of the vote.
McNeill said she would continue her husband’s work in office, especially fighting the opioid crisis and becoming an advocate for families with special needs and in need of support.
