In a new Mercyhurst Center for Applied Politics poll of Erie County voters, President Trump, who won the county last year, Congress and the news media are all underwater.
In the poll, 55% of Erie county voters disapprove of the job Trump is doing as President versus 32% who approve, compared with 49% disapproval and 41% disapproval in February of this year. Trump won Erie County in 2016 with 48.5% of the vote.
Trump’s unfavorability in the county has also dropped since the February poll. 60% of voters say unfavorable opinion of Trump, 19% somewhat and 41% strongly. This compared to 52% unfavorable in February, with 13% having somewhat unfavorable opinons, and 39% having strongly unfavorable.
Congress’s unfavorability numbers are worse than Trump’s in the county though. 68% of voters have an unfavorable view of Congress, 48% somewhat unfavorable and 20% strongly unfavorable.
The news media also came out below water, with 56% of voters saying they have not much or no trust that the media will report a story fully, accurately, and fairly. Erie voters were close to evenly split on media coverage of Trump though, 38% said the media were too hard on Trump and 36% said their coverage was about right.
The poll was conducted using live interviews of 309 registered voters in Erie county from October 16th-24th using live interviews. The margin of error is 4.9%.

I am baffled as to how the news media gets caught up in this. Anyone with even an inkling of what a reporter is supposed to do understands that he or she reports on what is said or done by a certain person, including an elected official. The only real biased network is Fox. Everyone else does a MUCH better job of reporting the news. Just look at Monday’s coverage of collusion when every major news source was covering it as Fox was unveiling hamburger emojis. Look it up.
That’s because the Russian collusion is a “nothing burger”, look that up. Fox is bias, but CNN, MSNBC, and the other MSM stations are way more biased. The liberal one are truely fake. Look that up. There’s like thousand of YouTube videos about it.
I want to know about the 5% of Erie County voters who apparently disapprove of Trump personally but are either undecided or approve of his job performance.
“49% disapproval and 41% disapproval in February of this year” would mean 90% disapproval…. a copy editor would do this site well.
