Following the announcement of a new Congressional map for Pennsylvania, it is game-on between Rep. Dan Meuser (R-9) and Rep. Fred Keller (R-12).
Meuser is the current U.S. House representative in the 9th District and has announced a bid for re-election. Keller is the current U.S. representative in the 12th District, but has announced a run for the seat in the 9th, despite not living in the district.
Keller lives in Snyder County which now resides in the 15th District, represented by Glenn Thompson. The U.S. Constitution only states that members of the House of
Representatives live in the state they represent, not the district.
The new 9th District consists of Bradford, Columbia, Lebanon, Montour, Northumberland, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Wyoming counties, along with parts of Berks, Luzerne and Lycoming.
Meuser, who was elected to his seat in 2018 and re-elected with 66.3 percent of the vote in 2020, said “our nation has a great deal to accomplish over the next two years, and I am ready to continue the fight for our values, beliefs, and for plans to address the issues that are currently impacting Pennsylvania families,” Meuser said in a statement.
Keller, who won election with 70.8 percent of the vote in 2020, said in a statement, “I am announcing my intention to run for reelection in the new 9th Congressional District and ensure that the voters, not partisan judges, pick their representative in Washington.”
Some GOP members hoped that Meuser would consider a run at the 8th District seat held by Democrat Matt Cartwright in a district that leans Republican.

Meuser should get Keller to hire Mike Rader. That will sure up his seat and Keller’s loss.
As soon as Corman drops out of the primary, Rader will be looking for another victim. Don’t waste time looking at his resume of deceased political careers!
Whose better? Fred Keller or Dan Meuser? There is also a third person running for the seat, Max Merrill.
Meuser in a landslide. He’s done more, works harder, has greater funding. Too bad Meuser treats staff worse than dogs. Disrespectful. That could come back to haunt him. Ranked one of the worst people to work for in congress.
Maybe Fred Keller should run for US Senate instead of trying to go up against Meuser in Mostly Meusers old district that he’s represented very well in the past several years and gives Meuser home field advantage over Keller.
It’s mostly Meuser’s old district. He should win.
Keller is a lightweight, Meuser will clean his clock.
