More Job Losses Demonstrate Murphy’s Failed Jobs Policies

Murphy continues to blame everyone else for economy, job losses

LANGHORNE, Pa-Today the Department of Labor announced that the United States economy shed an additional 95,000 private sector jobs last month.  The national unemployment rate remained at 9.6%.  Today’s news continues to illustrate Congressman Patrick Murphy’s failed record on job creation.

“Since Patrick Murphy was elected to Congress unemployment has more than doubled,” said Mike Fitzpatrick, “this is despite Murphy’s support for a massive failed stimulus plan that sent billions of American tax dollars and American jobs to China.”

According to a February 2010 report by the Investigative Reporting Workshop, foreign companies in China, Vietnam and Japan have received billions of dollars in stimulus money to create jobs and manufacture wind turbines.[1]

Patrick Murphy’s record of using American tax dollars to create foreign jobs is not limited to his support of the stimulus bill.  Patrick Murphy also supported the federal bailout of General Motors.  As part of the restructuring plan of General Motors, the company increased its manufacturing of vehicles in foreign cheap labor markets by 53%.[2]  Patrick Murphy’s Cash for Clunkers program also failed to include any buy America provisions and resulted in 80% of vehicles purchased though the program being made by foreign automakers.[3]

“Patrick Murphy likes to blame everyone for the job loss under his watch,” said Fitzpatrick, “but for four years, Patrick Murphy has been a leader in using American tax dollars to hire workers everywhere except America.  It’s clear why Patrick Murphy wants to lie about my record, because his record on job creation is an absolute failure.”
