Morganelli Creates Political Action Committee

John-Morganelli-loresNorthampton County District Attorney John Morganelli is taking another step towards a 2016 run for Attorney General.

Last night, Morganelli announced the creation of a Political Action Committee.

“Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli has filed paperwork with the Department of State, Bureau of Elections establishing a statewide political committee,” the statement reads. “The new committee, ‘Morganelli PAC Pa.’ was filed on September 8, 2015 in Harrisburg. Morganelli is considering a campaign for Attorney General of Pennsylvania in 2016.”

He also provided a link to his own personal website.

The DA first indicated he was interested in running last August.

Morganelli was the Democratic nominee for Attorney General in 2008 but lost to then-incumbent and future Governor Tom Corbett by a 52% to 46% margin. In 2014, he flirted with a run for Lt. Governor but ultimately decided to pass. He has served as Northampton County DA since 1992.

Democratic prosecutor Jack Stollsteimer is also running and Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro is expected to jump into the race as well. On the Republican side, State Sen. John Rafferty and State Rep. Todd Stephens are competing for the nomination. It’s unclear what incumbent Kathleen Kane will do.

  1. If you call me one more time with your Robo calls I will take legal action against you. You call me at all times of the day and night. You are nothing but sleeze!

  2. First of all anyone who has criticism Should learn how to spellAnd anyone who has an opinion it should be an educated one backed up by facts

  3. Todd Stephens and John Rafferty are unimpressive candidates with shallow credentials and little experience. I think the conservative base will see them as inexperienced hacks.

Josh Shapiro is very well-financed and skilled politician (in the best sense of the word) but no criminal prosecutorial experience. Josh Shapiro would use the AG’s office as stepping stone to Gov. There is some thought that Gov. Wolf will be one term governor and if so, Josh Shapiro may go directly to Gov.

John Morganelli is a very experienced prosecutor, has, actually, managed a prosecutor’s office and has been elected and re-elected. If credentials are the criterion, John Morganelli is the best candidate to declare.

  4. I’ve had the opportunity to interact with John Morganelli over the past 5 years and have always been impressed with his dedication, ethics and knowledge. I would not hesitate to vote for Morganelli and believe there is no better person to clean up and serve in the AG office.

  5. This is Joe Hoeffel of Abington, PA. I did not send the comment to this story that is critical of John Morganelli. The posting is fraudulent. I think highly of John and wish him well in the Attorney General campaign.

  6. Does PA really need another egomaniac with no skill set? His 2008 campaign was ammeter hour.

  7. A racist right wing wackadoodle with a Napoleon complex. Just what the Democrats need.

  8. John should be in this race. He’s the most experienced district attorney in the entire Commonwealth. How did it go over last time we nominated and elected somebody with almost no experience? John is what we need to have an a strong Democratic nominee after the Kane debacle.

  9. So a guy who underperformed the top of the ticket by 16% thinks he should be the candidate again? It would help if he wasn’t overtly racist. Have to believe this is a John Rafferty plant.
