Morning Consult: Trump Support Falling in Pa.

435px-Donald_Trump_Pentagon_2017President Donald Trump’s approval ratings are falling in Pennsylvania, according to the latest Morning Consult national survey.

The latest survey says that 44.6% of Pennsylvania’s approve of Trump’s performance, compared with 49% in their January poll.  According to the poll, the majority of Pennsylvanians, 50.7% disapprove of Trump’s performance.

Trump’s disapproval numbers are mirrored in two other states that swung from Obama in 2012 to Trump in 2016.  In Michigan, 55% of respondents disapprove of Trump’s performance, and in Wisconsin 53% disapprove of his performance.

The results of the poll might create issues for Republicans going into 2018.

“It’s always hard, though not impossible, for the president’s party to maintain or even gain ground in an election,” Sabato’s Crystal Ball managing editor Kyle Kondik told the Morning Consult.

Kondik cited Bill Clinton in 1998 and George W. Bush in 2002 as examples of Presidents that went against the trend of incumbent Presidents losing seats in Congress during midterm elections.

“Again, these presidents were all popular. Trump is not right now, and his weakened standing could threaten Republican chances to defeat Democratic Senate incumbents in dark red states,” Kondik said.

  1. Remember all the polls that said he was losing! The silent majority is as strong as ever. PA loved President Trump!

  2. Maybe for sweeps week, DJT can buy an island somewhere and set himself up as an absolute monarch, so he can be emperor like as President and King. No one could ever top that. Or better yet, orchestrate a coup d’etat by the CIA through Executive Order. Maybe Mar-a-Lago can declare independence from the USA. (Later, he can retreat to the little kingdom as the heat from the hoax witch hunt investigation gets hotter.)
