Mundy Endorsed by PA Professional Fire Fighters Association

mundy_sallieSupreme Court Justice Sallie Mundy has received the endorsement of the PA Professional Fire Fighters Association (PPFFA) due to her dedication and support of first responders and their families.

“During her career as an attorney and as both a Superior Court and Supreme Court Judge, Sallie Mundy has displayed a proven track record of protecting working families and first responders,” President of the PPFFA Art Martynuska said in a letter of endorsement. “Sallie’s background, and dedicated commitment to fire fighters and their families show that she is the most qualified candidate to serve as our Supreme Court Justice. We enthusiastically endorse Justice Mundy for the Supreme Court.”

PPFFA represents more than 10,000 career Fire Fighters, EMT’s and Paramedics in Pennsylvania and is also a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF).

“As Supreme Court Justice, Sallie Mundy has shown a true understanding of the commitment and dedication our first responders and their families give to keep our communities safe. Sallie has proven to be a fair justice that will protect the rights of all Pennsylvanians,” said Adam Perreault, of IAFF Local 302 in a press release.

Mundy spent 22 years as an attorney across the commonwealth. From 2009 to 2016 she served on the Pennsylvania Superior Court and was then nominated by Governor Wolf to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. She began serving on the Supreme Court in July 2016 after being unanimously confirmed by the State Senate.

“Growing up, my father was the local fire chief in Tioga Borough, where he served for 35 years. Both of my parents were involved in starting the first emergency response service in the region,”  said Mundy in a press release. “I understand the commitment our first responders and their families make. As a result of their commitment, it is our duty to do everything possible to protect them and their families. It is truly an honor to have the support of the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association.”

Other organizations supporting Mundy for Supreme Court include The PA Building and Trades Council, The Pennsylvania State Troopers Association and The Fraternal Order of Police Local Lodge 1 of Pittsburgh.

Mundy is running against Democratic candidate Judge Dwayne Woodruff for the one open seat on the Supreme Court.

  1. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Governor Wolf for helping to elect Sandy Mundy over Judge Woodruff. Can’t believe he would select a Republican over a Democrat. But then look who is advising him – the ED of the State Party. Who doesn’t even know who the State Committee Members are! By the way where is Mary Isenhouer?

  2. Good to have support I presume. Would Justice Mundy be in favor of a ban on per curiam abuse, particularly by Superior where denials of appeal contrary to Article V, Section 9 of the Pa. Const. are rampant?

    1. Per curiam abuse?

How does the Superior Court deny appeals in violation of Article V Section 9?
