Murphy Goes on TV (Video)

Rep. Tim Murphy is putting his $1 million cash-on-hand to use. The incumbent Republican today began airing a television ad that emphasizes his opposition to President Obama’s health care law. Murphy faces a primary from Evan Feinberg.

The 30-second ad features Murphy slamming the Affordable Care Act, nicknamed ‘Obamacare’ by critics. It’s scheduled to run on cable, specifically Fox News. Murphy’s media consultant is veteran John Brabender.

“I voted against Obamacare 24 times. Why? As a health care professional for over 30 years and the author of Pennsylvania’s ‘Patient Bill of Rights,’ I know what good health care looks like – and Obamacare isn’t it,” he says.

“I want you in charge of your health care, not big government.”

An incumbent whose internal polling shows him with a 64 point lead in the GOP primary, Murphy needs to accomplish little besides introducing himself to new constituents (his district shifted slightly with the newly drawn 2011 map) and define himself as a tough conservative.

Feinberg, a former staffer to conservative issue groups and two U.S. Senators, reported just $40,000 on hand at the end of 2011. Murphy reported $1,040,000.

The Democrat in the race is Washington County Commissioner Larry Maggi.

  1. Democrats have had control of congress the majority of the time since FDR except in the 1990s and early 2000s. New liberal lion get your facts straight

  2. Murphy says he knows what good health care looks like…NEWSFLASH TIM!…your party has had 100 years since Teddy Roosevelt to do healthcare. WHEN WERE YOU GONNA DO IT?
Go back to your plush neighborhood of Upper St. Clair and stay there.

  3. The Feinberg candidacy has been at best a flat tire, at worst the biggest political joke of the ’12 cycle. Tim Murphy will clean Feinberg’s clock. The John Brabender ad says it all- Welcome to the Big Leagues.

  4. There goes liberal Tim Murphy again haha. People who call liberal sound like complete idiots.
