Murphy Refuses to Join Blue Dogs’ Call Against Higher Taxes

Thirty-one House Democrats Now Support Cut Extension

LEVITTOWN, Pa-Today, after touring Fiberglass Technologies in Levittown, Mike Fitzpatrick renewed his call for Congressman Murphy to join thirty-one moderate Democrats who have called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to extend all the tax cuts currently set to expire on January 1, 2011.

“A recession is not the time to raise taxes on anyone,” said Fitzpatrick, “more and more Democrats in Congress are recognizing this economic reality.  Unfortunately, Congressman Murphy isn’t among them.”

“We can’t afford any increased taxes or healthcare costs,” said Scott Kennedy, co-owner with his brother Beau Kennedy of Fiberglass Technologies, “Mike Fitzpatrick has the right plan to support and help businesses like ours.”

If Congress takes no action before the end of the year, the average Bucks County family will see an increase in their federal income taxes of $2,020 effective January 1, 2011.

“Families need continued tax relief,” Fitzpatrick said, “and how can we expect small businesses to hire more employees and drive down the unemployment rate that has doubled under Patrick Murphy’s leadership, when we are raising their taxes.  Congressman Muprhy claims he is a moderate Blue Dog Democrat, here is his chance to prove it.”
