Nathan Davidson Named New HDCC Executive Director

HDCC-logoThe PA HDCC has a new Executive Director.

The House Democratic Campaign Committee is bringing on Nathan Davidson to fill the position.

The previous office holder was Ethan Smith, who stepped down in December.

A Hershey native, Davidson will lead the party into the 2016 elections. He also reportedly served as field director for the California Democratic Party.

“It is a great pleasure of mine to welcome Nathan Davidson to the HDCC. I am looking forward to executing an aggressive plan to recruit high quality candidates and add more members to our strong and diverse caucus,” said State Representative Mike Carroll, the Chair of the HDCC. “Nathan brings a depth of experience in local, statewide, and national politics, and I believe that his leadership will put our committee on the path to victory in 2016.”

“I am honored to be joining the HDCC for the 2016 election cycle, and am excited to grow the House Democratic Caucus,” Davidson responded. “The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania deserves legislators who will fight for a fair shot for all Pennsylvanians. Together with Rep Carroll and the Democratic Leadership in the House, I look forward to making a positive impact in my great home state.”

    Vanessa-

Yes. The 170th was an embarrassment for the party. While each side on the Dems side had a claim, they should have settled it for the good of the party.

My recommendation for next time: get a deck of cards, and whoever picks the high card is the candidate.

The Dems tend to eat their own. That is what happened in the 170th District. Democrats worked against Democrats. The famous Boyle Brothers and Johnny Doc screwed the Dems.

Davidson is an extremely talented operative. HDCC is lucky to have him.

Let’s see if he can run a candidate against Republican John Taylor in Philadelphia (in a 2-1 Dem registration district, 177th). Last cycle, Bob Brady sabotaged efforts to recruit a candidate, and the HDCC remained silent.

In 2014, the HDCC also failed to recruit candidates to challenge about a dozen seats held by Republicans, where Dems were at registration parity or had an actual registration advantage.

So, the bar is pretty low for Nathan to make improvements (and we will get a natural bump of Dem turnout for a Presidential year, and will pick a few seats even with typical HDCC bungling).

Let’s see if we can make a real dent.

Did they get a time machine to send Davidson back to January so that the HDCC doesn’t get embarrassed in the special election in the 170th district?
