New Corbett Web Ad is Out of This World (With Video)

Governor Tom Corbett’s re-election campaign released a new web video Friday, and it’s not subtle. It focuses on the benefits that drilling in the Marcellus Shale has brought to the state …and Earth.

Corbett world web ad“There’s a place that is rapidly becoming one of the most critical energy suppliers on the entire planet,” intones the narrator of the ad in his best impression of movie trailer.

“A place that is now the third-largest generator of electricity in the entire U.S. And thanks to Tom Corbett this place, known as Pennsylvania, has also become America’s second-largest producer of natural gas and the benefits to Pennsylvanians has been remarkable.”

According to the video, Marcellus Shale supports over 200,000 jobs in the commonwealth and produced $400 million in funds for local projects. It goes on to state that the $1.7 billion in corporate tax revenue has led to lower energy bills for the residents of Pennsylvania.

“Tom Corbett, helping establish Pennsylvania as a leading energy supplier to America and the rest of the world,” the narrator concludes at the end of the sixty-second spot. It was produced by Corbett’s longtime ad firm Brabender-Cox.

Pa. Democratic Party spokesman Marc Eisenstein brushed off the ad.

“Since Tom Corbett became governor, Pennsylvania has gone from 7th in the nation in job creation to 43rd while giving tax breaks to his biggest donors,” he said. “Pennsylvanians deserves real leadership and Tom Corbett is incapable of being that leader.”

  1. Very smart move. As we can see the anti-capitalist quasi-Marxist Left is already demonizing and attacking our most productive business, a gift of Nature and Nature’s God to be used commercially to Lowe energy costs and raise our standard of living.

Quasi-Marxist anti capitalist Allyson Schwartz has proposed a new 5% tax to fund yet more dependency creating welfare programs and that finance her opportunistic and Leftist supporters.

    John Hangar wants a moratorium/ban.

While there are many things Tom Corbett is not, and while he has failed on some key initiatives, and while he has surrounded himself with incompetent hacks, and while corporate welfare tax credits to a billion billion dollar multi national is not a free market principle, he has gotten the one bog thing right and that covers a multitude of disappointments. If Democrats get control of executive, it is foreseeable they will do to Pennsylvania what they have done to City of Harrisburg, to Scranton, to Wilkes-barre, to Reading, to Allentown and to Philadelphia. Democrats have with a relentless, self serving opportunism put them all on the path to Detroit, a city managed into bankruptcy from world class wealth.

Marcellus Shale is an issue which, I hope, all The Forgotten Taxpayers of Pennsylvania will realize is a reason, perhaps, the only reason, and a most compelling reason if Pennsylvania’s full commercial opportunities are to actualized.

  2. So the governor is like God and he put the Marcellus here? Why are drilling permits off nearly 50% since January 2012? Why is the governor keeping local townships from enforcing their own zoning laws? Why does the governor allow forced pooling? Why does not the governor charge a severance tax like every other gas-producing state? Why are all the gas companies heading to Ohio?
