The latest Municipoll/PoliticsPA survey found that Republican Tom Corbett holds an eight-point advantage over Democrat Dan Onorato in Pennsylvania’s gubernatorial contest. In the survey of 912 likely voters released on Tuesday, Corbett outpolled Onorato 46 percent to 38 percent with 15 percent of voters undecided.
“When compared to polling conducted over the summer, the campaign for Governor is apparently tightening,” said Municipoll President Ed Haggerty. “However, Tom Corbett still enjoys a substantial lead and voters view him more favorably than they do Dan Onorato.”
Forty-three percent of respondents hold a favorable view of Corbett, compared with twenty-three percent who view him unfavorably. Thirty-four percent view Onorato favorably, while thirty-one percent view him unfavorably.
The survey found Corbett holding an advantage among both the youngest and oldest likely voters; he’s winning 48% to 33% among 18-34 year olds (with 19% undecided), and holds a 48%-38% advantage among those 65 and older (14 percent undecided). Onorato maintains a 5-point lead (44%-39%, with 18% undecided) among likely voters ages 35-49.

The survey is the second in a series of Municpoll/PoliticsPA polls to be released this week examining the Commonwealth’s political landscape heading into the November election. A survey released yesterday found Republican Pat Toomey with a nine-point lead over Democrat Joe Sestak in Pennsylvania’s United States Senate race.
