NRCC adds Nothstein as Young Guns “Contender”

The National Republican Congressional Committee has advanced PA-7 Republican nominee Marty Nothstein within its “Young Guns” program.

The recruitment program was founded over a decade ago and recognizes GOP candidates across the country who show promise of running competitive, successful campaigns to add to the Republican majority in the House.

The benchmarks measure fundraising, messaging and communications factors in collaboration with the NRCC when moving candidates up through its three-tiered system of “on the radar,” “contender” and “young guns.”

The committee put Nothstein “on the radar” early last month.

He is facing former Allentown solicitor Susan Wild for the seat vacated by Charlie Dent in a race considered highly competitive.

“We have an impressive, hardworking field of candidates across the country, and these contenders are no exception,” said NRCC Chairman Steve Stivers in a press release Monday. “As primary season continues and we move into the general election, the NRCC is proud to support these proven champions through victory in November.”

Nothstein was among eight other candidates who advanced through the program. Officials noted that the Young Guns effort has helped elect more than Republican 140 candidates to Congress since 2010.

  1. Tim Silfies is in this race as the libertarian candidate with more experience and better qualifications than either the R or D. The republican party is shooting low if this is the best they have nationwide…

    1. The journalist from Fox News? Yeah, okay.

Looks like his voting record is trash. Hasn’t voted in an election prior to 2016?

Also – did he copy Marty’s torch logo? LOL.

    2. WOW, he absolutely 100% copied Marty’s logo. How pathetic is that lol jesus. There are 3 people in the race man, pick any other logo besides a torch. If he loves limited government then it sounds like Marty will have his vote!

  2. Am I the only one that finds “Young Guns” offensive and hateful towards our murdered children in school.

    1. Then you better not ever shoot basketball, shoot pool, take a shot, order coffee with a shot, stick to your guns, ride shotgun, go ballistic, troubleshoot a printer or have a goal in your sight. It’s just a part of the English language, it has nothing to do with anything aggressive, harmful or offensive. How can you not see that you trying to restrict normal everyday words is taking someone’s freedom of speech.

But since you’re obviously a Dem, you better shoot for high Democratic voter turnout otherwise Republicans will reallyyyyy start getting things done with a big victory for Marty against the far-left EMILY’S LIST Dem candidate, with a Republican Governor, LG, both majorities and with Senator Pat Toomey as our Senior Republican Senator.

      Thanks for playing.

      1. Thanks for the insight Charlie. Good to know you’re a late night keyboard warrior.

        1. I think that I get pinned as someone new everyday on these message boards. If you think Charlie would really be wasting his time on PoliticsPA you’re on something. He has better things to do.

What do you think he’s Justin Simmons sitting in his moms basement wearing his footy pjs? He’s better than that.
