The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is launching a new digital ad targeting Senator Bob Casey on his support of liberal causes.
“Bob Casey posed as a moderate to get elected, but he’s shown his true, liberal colors since coming to Washington. Casey sold out Pennsylvanians years ago when he cozied up to the liberal special interest groups and anti-gun lobbyists who fund his campaign,” NRSC spokesman Bob Salera said.
The ad will run on Youtube until the end of September, targeted at likely midterm voters.
“The 2006 Bob Casey is gone. The new Bob Casey, just another Washington liberal,” the ad says.
These types of ads usually do not have large amounts of money behind them, and are used mainly to gain earned media coverage, and to engage with the base outside of the normal election timeline.
Update: The Pennsylvania Democratic Party responded to the ad, defending Casey’s positions as inline with Pennsylvania’s.
“All these misleading attacks show is how desperate D.C. special interests are to stop Bob Casey because they know he fights for the middle class, not them. Unfortunately for Washington Republicans, Pennsylvanians across the commonwealth know Bob Casey has spent his career delivering results for workers, families, and seniors,” Pa. Dems spokesman Max Steele said in an email.

Bob Casey is do-nothing politician. All he is interested in is obstructing Trump’s agenda! Vote this guy out in 2018
When you’re as far to the right fringe as Cory Gardner, I’m sure a moderate like Casey, or really anyone to the left of Reagan, looks like he might as well be Marx. Kind of scary when the Tea Party wingnuts are in charge of establishment institutions like the NRSC.
