Nutter and Trump Get Into Public Spat
Their feud began when Trump issued a statement calling for a halt of all Muslim emigration to the United States. The next day, Mayor Nutter was asked about Trump’s position and thoroughly denounced it.
“Certainly if I had the power to do so, the only banning that should be done is that of that person not being allowed in the city of Philadelphia,” Nutter said. “We have no place for that kind of ignorance and tolerance and lack of understanding of what our country is about.”
“He has taken a page from the playbook of Hitler: Demonize a group, blame that group for our country’s problems, and then seek to ban or eliminate that group as some kind of solution to a problem that does not exist,” the Mayor continued.
Of course, it didn’t take long for Trump to respond via Twitter:
.@Mayor_Nutter of Philadelphia, who is doing a terrible job, should be ashamed for using such a disgusting word in referring to me.Low life!

The Mayor shot back at The Donald in a radio interview with WHYY.
“He needs to focus a whole lot less on me. He does not know me at all, he doesn’t know anything about the city of Philadelphia,” Nutter said of Trump. “He needs to clean up the mess he’s been making, including yesterday, and apologize to members of the Muslim faith and citizens of the United States of America for his intolerable views.”
This episode comes amidst other controversies involving Trump and the Keystone State. For instance, he’ll be the guest at the PA Commonwealth Club luncheon on Friday. The Philadelphia Daily News also blasted Trump for his statement on Muslims which sparked another insult from the New Yorker.
