With a little help from The Roots, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter brought down the house on the Fourth of July.
Joining the world-renowned Philly-based band on stage for the Wawa Welcome America, Nutter wowed the crowed with his rendition of “Rapper’s Delight” by The Sugarhill Gang.
This is not the first time the mayor, a former DJ, has performed the song, practicing for his Independence Day gig at both of his inaugurations, according to CNN.
After endearing himself to the festival crowd, Nutter ended in true emcee fashion, dropping the mic (2:55).
