Olsommer Sworn In As Newest Member of PA House

Rep. Jeff Olsommer

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives is back to full strength as Jeff Olsommer (R-Wayne/Pike) was sworn in as the chamber’s 203rd member on Tuesday morning.

Olsommer, the owner of the Olsommer Clarke Insurance Group for the past 24 years, was elected in a special election in the 139th District with 60.3 percent of the vote, defeating Democratic candidate Robin Skibber.

He has served as chair of the Sterling Township Board of Supervisors and was a former director of the Wayne Education Foundation and Wayne Economic Development Corporation.

“I’m ready to get to work for the citizens of the 139th Legislative District,” Olsommer said. “I’m grateful to the folks back home who sent me here and it is a privilege to represent them.”

Olsommer replaces Joe Adams, who resigned his seat in February, and will fill the remainder of his term. He is also the Republican nominee for the seat in the general election and will face Skibber in a rematch in November.

“Swearing in a new member is always a special occasion in the state House of Representatives,” Speaker Joanna McClinton (D-Philadelphia/Delaware) said. “Newly sworn in Representative Olsommer brings valuable experience from his time in local government and the private sector to our institution and will be a strong advocate for his neighbors in northeast Pennsylvania.”
