PA-01: Ehasz Releases First TV Ad vs. Fitzpatrick

Democratic PA-01 challenger Ashley Ehasz unveiled her first TV ad this week, entitled “Second Class Citizen.”

The former Iraq war veteran and former Apache helicopter pilot is running for the 1st Congressional District seat currently held by Republican Brian Fitzpatrick.

The six-figure ad buy highlights Ehasz’s experience in the U.S. Army. It also calls out what Ehasz describes as Fitzpatrick’s anti-abortion record, including his vote for a national abortion ban that would have criminalized abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy in 2017.

“For too long, Brian Fitzpatrick has tried to hide his voting record on abortion,” said Ehasz. “But our community deserves to know that their representative is voting against their reproductive rights. In the Army, I fought to defend our country’s freedom, and now I am proud to stand up to anti-choice extremists like Brian Fitzpatrick, who wants to take away our reproductive freedom.”

PA-01 will be one of the most closely watched congressional races in the Commonwealth and is one of Democrats’ top hopes for flipping the seat and winning back the chamber majority.

Transcript

“I’m a combat veteran who flew Apaches over Baghdad. I am no stranger to fighting to protect our country’s freedoms,

Donald Trump and Brian Fitzpatrick have overturned Roe v. Wade to take those freedoms away from us and I will not be made a second-class citizen in the very country I risked my life to defend.

Brian may not have seen combat, but he sure does a great job at taking marching orders. He even voted to limit access to abortion for women in uniform.

So Brian, which side are you on?”

This story has been updated to clarify that Ehasz is describing what she refers to as Fitzpatrick’s anti-abortion record.

  1. Abortion isn’t the top issue for voters, but Ehasz’s message combining abortion-rights and freedom is compelling.

    1. Abortion not a top issue for voters? You must be a white man. With Ashley we will finally have someone in Washington listening to their constituents!
