PA-1: Rep. Bob Brady Talks AUMF, Philly Convention and More on MSNBC (VIDEO)

Former Congressman and Iraq War veteran Patrick Murphy sat down with Rep. Bob Brady to discuss Congress’ impending vote on the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF).

Brady, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, doesn’t have a strong opinion either way regarding his vote for the AUMF. He said he would need to review any and all amendments when the bill is brought to the floor.

Although he opposes the so-called Islamic State, Brady expressed a fear that when troops are on the ground things will escalate.

Murphy also asked the Congressman if he felt the GOP was playing politics with the funding of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Brady called it ‘ridiculous’ that the GOP would threaten to shut down part of the government over President Obama’s executive order on immigration.

Finally, the two talked about Brady’s efforts in bringing the 2016 Democratic National Convention to Philadelphia. He also spoke about the Pope’s visit later this year and asserted these events could bring in ‘anywhere from $200-300 Million’ into Philadelphia’s economy.
