PA-10: Independent Troiano Continues “Back to the Future” Tour (VIDEO)

Nick Troiano, the young and ambitious 25 year-old hoping to unseat incumbent Tom Marino, embarked on a campaign tour on July 2.

Troiano’s campaign recently released a new video showcasing the first five stops along the journey, and constituents’ reactions to the hopeful Independent.

Troiano will visit 15 counties during July 2-27 in a 1981 DeLorean, the iconic vehicle from the 1985 film Back to the Future.

Attempting to capitalize on the current frustration surrounding partisan politics, Troiano states in the video that reasoning behind “The ‘Back to the Future’ tour” is that we need to go “back to a politics that serves the people in order to save the future of our country.”

Spending a day in each county, Troiano will visit local restaurants, fairs, and festivals to garner support for his campaign and obtain the requisite signatures to place his name on the ballot in November.

Troiano certainly has a tough battle ahead, as he must earn nearly three and a half times the signatures that the other two candidates have already presented. Two-term Republican Tom Marino has a strong voter base in PA-10 which encompasses Bradford, Juniata, Lycoming, Mifflin, Pike, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Union and Wayne counties and parts of Lackawanna, Monroe, Northumberland, Perry and Tioga counties.

A video showcasing the tour so far interviewed many people with whom Troiano has shared his message.

“I like the personal connect that I’ve gotten with Nick, he seems very humble and intelligent,” a woman commented.

Another stated her belief that, “I really think we need a clean sweep and a lot of fresh faces in there…too many are too ingrained for too long.”

The tour will conclude in Harrisburg, and at that time Troiano hopes to have enough signatures to be a contender in November.

“Many people in the 10th district want to see a smaller but smarter government, they want to have an economy that works for them and neither party is serving these objectives anymore,” Troiano commented.

76% of voters responded that they are open to supporting an independent candidate, according to a March JMC Analytics poll. Troiano may be able to capitalize on the current frustration with politicians by inspiring constituent support as November nears.

  1. I didn’t hear a single word from Nick Troiano about any solid ideas–just more vague promises and complaints. If those people interviewed think that there is no difference between the Republican and Democratic parties, then they are not paying attention to what is going on in Washington or Harrisburg.

  2. Eric – if you can’t see why this political candidate making a splash in an unusual way wouldn’t be featured on a political blog, particularly during a relatively slow part of the political cycle, then perhaps the joke is on you. No one is saying it isn’t a long shot, but the man is turning heads and it’s newsworthy if for no other reason than a little human interest.

As an afterthought, I seem to remember an Eric working on the Marino campaign in 2010… wouldn’t happen to have been you, would it?

  3. Yep a clean sweep is needed. Get rid of all the amoral GOTP, turn PA Blue and get PA moving.

  4. why am i reading about this person who will never win…this is such a joke blog now
