PA-10: Nick Troiano Releases First Television Ad (VIDEO)

Nick Troiano, the twenty-five year old Independent candidate running for the 10th Congressional District, released his first television commercial today.

The ad, titled “Washington’s A Zoo”, is one of the lighter spots that has been released thus far this election season. It features Troiano between a donkey and elephant, and makes the case that he is the candidate of the people, not of the political parties.

Troiano also discusses the bickering between the Democrats and Republicans and how nothing is getting done in Washington.

“All the squabbling, nothing getting done,” Troiano states. “Both sides seem to care more about scoring points for their party than solving problems for the people.”

The main issue Troiano is concerned with in the ad is the ever-increasing national debt and how the future generations will be left cleaning it up.

The commercial ends with Troiano cleaning up after one of the animals, saying, “I’m sick of both parties crap.”

Troiano will face off against Republican incumbent Tom Marino and Democrat Scott Brion. The 10th Congressional District is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

  1. @john doe on Mariano’s congressional staff – Troiano isn’t breaking House rules, in fact that rule doesn’t apply to him because he isn’t a Member of Congres….yet. The House rule applies to sitting members of Congress, prohibiting them from using CSPAN floor footage for their own political campaigns. House ethics rules govern members of Congress, it’s not federal statute. The law is what Marino’s Democrat press aide broke when he illegally brought a gun into the district of Columbia and into the United States Capitol.

  2. Looks like the Troiano campaign could have potentially broken House Rules. According to the U.S. House Ethics Committee, “Broadcast coverage and recordings of House floor proceedings may not be used for any political purpose under House Rule 5, clause 2(c)(1). In addition, under House Rule 11, clause 4(b), radio and television tapes and film of any coverage of House committee proceedings may not be used, or made available for use, as partisan political campaign material to promote or oppose the candidacy of any person for public office.” http://ethics.house.gov/general-prohibition-against-using-official-resources-campaign-or-political-purposes#campaign_floor_proceedings
