Democratic Congressional candidate John Hugya announced today that he has won the backing of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 354.
“I worked with these professionals during my years with Bethlehem Steel when I needed to get a big job done with the help of the very best, Local 354,” Hugya said. “They haven’t forgotten me, and I will not forget them.”
The Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 354 represents 1,200 current and former members and is located in Youngwood in Westmoreland County.
Hugya, a Chief of Staff to former Rep. John Murtha and Korean War veteran, is running against businesswoman Erin McClelland in the Democratic primary for PA-12. Earlier today, McClelland won the endorsement of the USW Local 1196.
The current Representative in PA’s 9th district is Republican Keith Rothfus, who is currently serving his first term and will face the winner of the Hugya-McClelland Democratic primary.

John…it’s obvious I wasn’t, or anybody else was making fun of his service to our Country. I come from a political family and a family of vets. So don’t tell me. Furthermore…if you want to talk about John’s agenda, we can do that. For starters…he’s a military hawk and he brags about going to n.r.a. meetings. So screw that! Hardly a Democrat. By the way, he’s out of shape and huge. I’m very fit for my age, even with a pinched nerve and calcific tendinitis in my shoulder. Thank you. 😉
It’s a joke. Having a little fun with his name is not disrespectful. Yes, his service should be honored, but he’s running for public office now, and is therefore subject to the same scrutiny (and taunts) that all other politicians are..
I don’t care if the person is 20 or 80 years old to disrespect someone that fought for his country is unforgivable. I meet Col. Hugya last year and he is probably more fit that you are. Like I said earlier GROW UP.
@KingOfSpades Omg! Good one! I’ve peed my pants now. Lol. @John. Oh c’mon…the guys is like 80 years old and he’s running for congress. That’s why we are all laughing! Don’t you think it’s time for him to think about doing something else, for crying out loud? I mean I can’t believe that no one else is showing up to take on Rothfus. That’s what’s really funny!
We’re the plumbers who support Mr. Hugya
If your toilet’s backed up, we’ll come and unplug ya.
Show some RESPECT he is a decorated Korean War Hero. He is well respected in the 12th Congressional district and a great person.
You guy’s need to GROW UP.
I think I’m gonna pee my pants. Lol.
You wanna Hugya? What rhymes with Hugya? Hey hey hey….
(Sorry, I couldn’t resist.)
Lol.
Did the plumbers union say to him “come here, we wanna hugya”?
