PA-12: McClelland Wins Labor Endorsement

erin-mcclelland2Democratic Congressional candidate Eric McClelland received her first labor endorsement in the 2016 election cycle from the Pittsburgh Regional Building and Construction Trades Council.

“We are proud to announce that Erin McClelland has the endorsement of the Pittsburgh Regional Building and Construction Trades Council for the US Congressional 12th District seat,” said Business Manager Richard Stanizzo. “Her energy and passion for those issues that affect working men and women are very impressive and deserving of our support.”

“It is such a great honor to receive the support of the Pittsburgh Building Trades,” McClelland responded. “This is a council of many unions that create jobs, improve our infrastructure and keep this country moving forward. Their support is especially important in this District because of its growing infrastructure needs and opportunities that are simply being ignored by our Representative in Washington.”

McClelland was the 2014 Democratic nominee in the PA-12 race.

The 12th district consists of Beaver County as well as parts of Allegheny, Cambria, Lawrence, Somerset and Westmoreland Counties. GOP Congressman Keith Rothfus has represented the district since 2013.

  1. I believe PA Conservative is mistaken. From last election cycle, it was clear that she did not support an increase in gun regulation. Planned Parenthood is a medical service, and the Hyde Amendment does an adequate job preventing my taxes from going toward someone’s abortion. My problem with Keith is that his “solutions” are non-solutions that make good ads. He wants to cut VA bonuses, but that doesn’t solve the root of the problem, which is the VA hospital structure. We need to shift the VA program to an extension of medicare. A veteran should be able to go to the nearest hospital or medical facility to receive care, and not have to travel to a VA hospital to receive care (often much later than they should). Punishment is not the solution. Reform that is practical and limits government as much as possible is the solution.

  2. Reasonable Conservative sounds like a progressive. Bottom line a candidate who supports planned parenthood and gun control has no chance of winning in the 12th district.

  3. I’ve heard her speak once. Her policies seems practical, and although I disagree with her on multiple issues, Keith just seems so insincere, repeating the same talking points, again and again. McClelland seems like she’s actively looking for real solutions, and has an actual concern for the people in our district.

  4. Erin has spent a lot of time on the picket lines supporting union workers. This is a well earned endorsement for her support.
