PA-13: Leach Earns PSEA and NEA Endorsements

The son of a school teacher received a big boost from the largest teacher’s union in the state and the nation today as Daylin Leach won the endorsement of the PSEA and NEA.

“We are proud to recommend Daylin Leach for Congress, and we are confident that Daylin will be a true leader in Washington on issues that impact public education and working families,” said PSEA President Mike Crossey. “Since joining the Pennsylvania Legislature in 2002, Daylin has stood out as a tireless advocate for public education, and we know that he will continue fighting for our schools, our students, and our profession as a member of Congress.”

“I am thrilled to have the endorsement of PSEA,” State Sen. Daylin Leach responded. “For years, we have worked together to stand against Gov. Corbett’s draconian cuts to public education, and to fight people like [the] Koch brothers to make sure that valuable tax dollars stay in our public schools. I look forward to continuing these fights in Congress.”

The importance of the PSEA comes mainly from the fact that they’re the largest union in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. According to the organization they have 5,600 members in PA’s 13th Congressional district.

While no public polls have been conducted in the district, education has been ranked as the most important issue to voters in the statewide race for Governor, making the endorsement of the PSEA seem particularly valuable. Gubernatorial candidate Rob McCord, for example, has highly touted their backing in his campaign commercials.

Other Democratic candidates in the race for PA-13 include physician Val Arkoosh, State Rep. Brendan Boyle and former Congresswoman Marjorie Margolies.

  1. Tracey, Do you believe it is appropriate humor for your representative to post on the internet? Why not have your children read it (they can, Daylin posted it for everyone to see). Would you want your children’s teacher to post comments about penis size and age of consent being 10?? It is easy to say sorry, but the idea that he thinks it’s funny is creepy, as is his comments about his friend Linda Swainn’s breasts among many other rude topics that maybe a elected official should not post on the WWW. It shows poor judgement again and again. Remember he doesn’t even live in the district he is running for,. The PSEA endorses him but he doesn’t send his kids to public school, even though it is a very good school district. What is wrong with having PSEA members teach his kids. BTW do want him to pass legalizing Pot, so that your H.S. seniors can legally smoke pot and show up in class stoned? Do you think that may make it easier for younger students to obtain pot? Another “I’m sorry” may be required.
