Following a poll of constituents, MoveOn.org endorsed State Senator Daylin Leach (D-Mongtomery) in the Democratic primary for PA-13.

He beat former Congresswoman Marjorie Margolies, State Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-Philadelphia) and physician activist Valerie Arkoosh by sizable margins.

Leach took 55% of the vote, followed by Margolies at 17%, Arkoosh at 15% and finally Boyle at 13%.

“This resounding vote confirms that Daylin Leach is the clear choice of progressive voters in Pennsylvania’s 13th district,” said Ilya Sheyman, executive director of MoveOn.org Political Action. “We’re excited to mobilize our community of more than 16,000 MoveOn members across Pennsylvania’s 13th district to provide boots on the ground to power progressive champion Daylin Leach’s campaign to victory in this primary.”

The announcement of their endorsement was accompanied by comments left by voters in the poll.

“Daylin Leach is one of the most forward progressive thinkers in Pennsylvania. As a leader in public education, the environment, women’s rights, LGBT equality, and tax fairness, Daylin is bold, unapologetic, and takes action,” said Eric of King of Prussia. “He has given us a light at the end of the apathetic tunnel — the antithesis of the do-nothing Congress of the past two years. I endorse Senator Leach and look forward to calling him Representative Leach in 2015.”

According to MoveOn.org, they have 16,000 members in the 13th District.

Leach was also endorsed by Philly for Change, the Philadelphia chapter of Democracy for America.

This seat was vacated when Rep. Allyson Schwartz announced her retirement to seek the Governor’s office this year.

  1. I saw a recent advertisement from Senator Leach’s campaign subtly slamming two of his opponents while touting this endorsement. I hope that this race is not becoming nasty. Senator Leach is not one to throw stones since he does not even live in the 13th Congressional District. Hopefully this was just a blip on the screen.

  2. I’m impressed considering there were 4 candidates, and it’s rare for one candidate to get over 50% in any poll.

I guess that’s why Daylin is the “Liberal Lion” of PA.
