The race in Pennsylvania’s 16th Congressional District is getting even more competitive.
The third quarter campaign finance reports show Republican nominee Lloyd Smucker is still ahead in the money race but Democratic nominee Christina Hartman was able to close the gap.
The third fundraiser quarter spans July 1st to September 30th.
Over the course of those three months, Smucker managed to pull in $404,222. While this was less than his second quarter total he still finished ahead of Hartman. She raised $353,290 although that is more than doubled her second quarter haul.
Nearly $200K ($198,700 to be exact) of Smucker’s cash came from PACs while Hartman received $100,779 from political action committees.
During this period, Smucker spent $344,152 while Hartman racked up $398,898 in expenditures.
Altogether, the Republican nominee began October with $263,155 cash on hand compared to his Democratic opponent’s $160,003.

Hmmm…comments seem to be slanted. With state Senator Smucker, there is a definable track record. I would hope that this comment dialogue would evolve into a real exchange of ideas.
Christina has been running a great race. For the first time in my memory, the 16th is competitive. She is a wonderful candidate. One of the best I’ve known.
Toomey and Trump are teammates on the GOP LOSERS team.
(Almost) any Democrat is better than any Republican.
