PA-16: Smucker Elected to Congress

smuckerLloyd Smucker is going from Harrisburg to Washington, D.C.

The State Senator and GOP nominee will retain the PA-16 seat.

With 88% of precincts in, Smucker received 139,987 votes (54%). Democratic nominee Christina Hartman got 112,640 votes (43%).

This seat was considered potentially in play if the Democrats had done particularly well but the Republicans retained. Congressman Joe Pitts announced last year that he was retiring after ten terms in office.

The 16th Congressional District includes parts of Berks, Chester and Lancaster County including the city of Reading.

We’ll have updates on the final vote tallies and percentages in the near future.
