PA-17: Deluzio and Shaffer to Face Off in Open Seat

Democrat Chris Deluzio and Republican Jeremy Shaffer posted relatively comfortable victories tonight for their parties’ nominations for the 17th District congressional seat.

The seat was formerly held by Conor Lamb, who lost in his quest for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate to John Fetterman this evening.

Deluzio, a Navy veteran and lawyer focused on election security, defeated LGBTQ advocacy organizer and former teacher Sean Meloy.

Former Ross Township commissioner Shaffer dispatched businesswoman Kathy Coder and writer and national security commentator Jason Killmeyer.

The 17th District encompasses Beaver County and a broad swath of suburban Allegheny County’s North and South Hills.

  1. Shaffer is a right wing ideologue and is unfit to serve in Congress. We have enough nuts there and don’t need another one.
