PA-2: Black Ward Leaders Endorse Fattah

Chaka-FattahAt least one group is standing behind the embattled Congressman Chaka Fattah.

The Black Ward Leaders association has endorsed his re-election effort.

“Congressman Fattah has a proven record of effective leadership in Washington as a Senior Member of the House Appropriations Committee,” Chairman Sonny Campbell said. “He has been very successful at bringing home federal funds for more jobs, better educational opportunities, improved housing conditions and quality healthcare. It would take someone new at least 10 years or more to be able to do financially for the city what Congressman Fattah is already doing. As a senior member in Washington he’s shown us that he can deliver.”

Campbell claimed that the vote to support Fattah was unanimous.

“I am especially proud to receive the support of this group of black ward leaders,” Fattah responded. “They represent a large number of my constituents that will play an important role in my re-election.”

Rep. Fattah is currently under indictment on 29 counts.

Other Democratic candidates in the 2nd district’s primary are State Representatives Dwight Evans and Brian Sims, as well as Ninth Ward Leader Dan Muroff and Lower Merion Township Commissioner Brian Gordon.
