The Dwight Evans congressional campaign is up with its first video this morning.
Set in a Fresh Grocer store, the ad features State Senator Shirley Kitchen and former State Representative Frank Oliver praising the work Evans has done for North Philadelphia.
“I’m here this morning for Dwight Evans because Dwight Evans has been there for the people,” Sen. Kitchen declares.
“He was always the type of person that if you have a problem and he could help you, Dwight would always do what he could for you,” Rep. Oliver states. “For Dwight Evans, I’d go anywhere and do anything to help that man because he has helped so many people.”
“I want to remind people that cities are extremely essential to this country,” Evans says towards the end of the video. “And that what took place here, we can do throughout the entire Second Congressional District, block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood. It is when people work together that we can move a community forward.”
Evans is running against incumbent Congressman Chaka Fattah as well as Lower Merion Township Commissioner Brian Gordon, State Rep. Brian Sims and Ninth Ward Leader Dan Muroff. The primary is competitive because of Fattah’s legal issues and recent polling shows Evans in the lead.
The 2nd district consists of parts of Northwest Philadelphia as well as Southwestern Montgomery County.
