PA-2: Evans Unseats Fattah

Dwight EvansState Rep. Dwight Evans will make the step to the U.S. House of Representatives after knocking off embattled incumbent Congressman Chaka Fattah in Tuesday’s primary.

Evans has picked up 42% of the vote, 73,607 votes, with 99% of the precincts reporting.

The Congressman – whose federal trial starts in three weeks – conceded after picking up just 60,286 votes or 35%,

Lower Merion Township Commissioner Brian Gordon has 13% (23,279 votes) while Ninth Ward Leader Dan Muroff rounded out the race with 10% (17,500 votes).

The 2nd Congressional District consists of parts of Northwest Philadelphia, as well as Southwestern Montgomery County.
