Chaka Fattah remains undeterred.
The entrance of State Rep. Dwight Evans into the PA-2 Democratic primary is the most serious threat the Congressman has dealt with in his political career. On top of that, of course, are the 29 indictments Rep. Fattah is also facing.
Nevertheless, Fattah is hiring staff for this April’s election.
Last month, he hired Joe Certaine as his campaign manager. Today, the campaign announced Jeremiah Pope would be jumping on as Finance Director.
“Jeremiah is very adept at raising money,” said Fattah. “We’ve worked together before and he was very successful in helping me achieve my financial target. I’m glad to have him on board with me again.”
“Working on behalf of Fattah for Congress is a more than a job for me, it’s a cause,” Pope responded. “I believe that when you have a person like Congressman Fattah who has worked so tirelessly on behalf of the constituents of the Second Congressional District, it is imperative that he returns to Washington to continue the good work that he has done and continues to do. This cause is more than fundraising. It’s ensuring that citizens in Philadelphia have the best and most experienced representation in Washington, that is and will continue to be Congressman Fattah.”
Other Democratic candidates in the 2nd district’s primary are State Representative Brian Sims, Ninth Ward Leader Dan Muroff and Lower Merion Township Commissioner Brian Gordon.
