PA-2: Fattah Trial to Start Today

Chaka-FattahLast month, Congressman Chaka Fattah lost his battle for the Democratic nomination.

Today, however, the real fight starts as Fattah’s trial is set to begin.

The Congressman is facing 29 indictments. According to the Justice Department’s statement last year they include “participating in a racketeering conspiracy and other crimes, including bribery; conspiracy to commit mail, wire and honest services fraud; and multiple counts of mail fraud, falsification of records, bank fraud, making false statements to a financial institution and money laundering.”

In fact, Fattah’s legal battle is one of only several crises in his family. In February, his son was sentenced to five years in jail.

Later that month, Rep. Fattah’s wife was fired from her job at NBC10 for her alleged involvement in attempts to cover up some of his money transfers.

Fattah is still set to serve through his Congressional term, which ends on January 3, 2017.

  1. That’s great and I think he could have a death Sentence or 5 years in Prison like his son is doing right now.
