Kerith Strano Taylor, Democratic contender for the 5th Congressional district, released her first TV ad this week.
The 30 second spot titled “Broken”, discusses how Strano Taylor plans to address voter’s waning support of a damaged political system.
“Everyone – They think it’s broken. Our government is broken. Washington is broken,” she states. “When I ask them what they mean by that, they are clear and they never differ…they say to me, ‘we’ve been bought. Our government has been bought.’”
The commercial features Strano Taylor interacting with voters, spending time with her family and riding her motorcycle through the 5th district. A voiceover mentions Strano Taylor’s contention that the district “deserves better” than what current Washington politics can provide.
“When I go to Washington – it’s to do the work for us,” Strano Taylor concludes. “Cause it’s about damn time.”
Pennsylvania’s 5th district is the largest in the area, and the least densely populated with just under 650,000 people. Republican leaning, the district has not elected a Democratic representative since 1973.
Strano Taylor is running against Republican incumbent Glenn Thompson. The two candidates have met three times previously in public forums and their next debate is scheduled for October 27th at The Pennsylvania State University. It will be broadcast live on WPSU-TV in the Johnstown-State College media market and in the Erie media market on WQLN-TV.

The Fifth has as many people in it as any other Congressional District in the country, but it is consistently ignored by the media and the parties. Strano Taylor is generating some excitement, and it’s good to see PoliticsPA is noticing.
@ Jabba I have seen WAY better stuff produced in iMovie. I think a third-grader must have done the sound on this.
Politics in this state forgot about us at least ten years ago. I watch commercials on TV and on this site and too many say the same thing and look the same. But this ad has more passion than any other this year. Other like Lavalee and Strouse are the same ol’ cut and paste. We don’t even hear much about our own candidates in the wilds of PA – but we have been hearing about Kerith. She has done a good job at getting herself out there everywhere in the district. She may not win – but she is making some noise and maybe we can get out back on the political map.
Did someone make this in iMovie in their spare time?
MEG GRIFFIN FOR CONGRESS!
