PA-6: Trivedi Nudges Past Costello in April

Dr-Manan-Trivedi1Manan Trivedi’s first quarter fundraising report was sorely disappointing for Democrats as they hope to regain the seat long-held by Rep. Jim Gerlach, but the three-time candidate made a bit of a comeback in April.

Trivedi raised $102,000 in April – outraising his Republican competitor, Chester County Commissioner Ryan Costello who only raised $66,000.

In this pre-primary report, Trivedi spent $43,850.19 and is left with $167,850.56 on hand. This is a major boost in his fundraising pace and may be seen as a sign that his campaign is picking up steam after the fundraising shellacking they endured at the end of March. In the first quarter, Trivedi raised $132,416.50.

He gave himself $15,000, but outside of that, Trivedi’s big supporters from April include Democracy For America ($5000) and UFCW ($5000).

Costello spent $60,635.12 during April, but is still left with a massive cash on hand advantage, boasting $312,643.54 in his coffers. During the first quarter, he raised $344,450.00, and like Trivedi has not spent much on his campaign yet — only $39,141.34.

Large contributors to Costello in April include the NRA ($4,950.00), New Pioneers PAC ($5,000), ENDO Pharmaceuticals PAC ($5,000), in addition to a few thousand dollars each from local donors.

Both Trivedi and Costello are unopposed in their respective primaries.

  1. I want to know what “guest” keeps referring to as “mainstream”. Manan Trivedi is an excellent candidate and one I am proud to support. I am not sure how you get any more mainstream than doctor, veteran, and father.

  2. Do not forget that Lois Murphy lost two very close elections to Gerlach and then parlayed that into winning a judgeship in Montco. Trivedi is well liked in Berks Dem circles, he needs to work the rest of the district.

  3. Veteran and mainstream Mike Parrish could have won this seat in the fall election. The entrenched Democrats held to their repeated failed fantasy and throw away this seat in a gift to Costello. Time after time Democrat whiners throw away good chances for a win by a candidate who Democrat and mainstream will support. Costello not only has a free ride but also now does even need to run on his issue positions. Free ride!!!
Note: Trivedi also has distinguished Military service. He just loses elections.

  4. I’m surprised Trivedi is running again, for a third time. But, looking at the makeup of the district, Costello should sail to an easy victory

  5. Considering that he didn’t even announce until mid-february, and that the DC Dem establishment at that point was still in a tizzy that Koch-plant Parrish would be running to the right of Gerlach… the good doctor is doing just fine. Momentum is everything in the cash-raising game, and he has it.
