PA-8: DCCC Seeks to Separate Brian and Mike Fitzpatrick

DCCC FitzpatrickMike Fitzpatrick is generally popular in Bucks County.

He’s won four of his five PA-8 contests and is well-known throughout the district.

In fact, the Fitzpatrick name is so golden in the area that the GOP abandoned State Rep. Scott Petri in order to back Mike’s younger brother Brian. The goal is that residents will implicitly trust the Republican nominee as a result (and perhaps some low-information voters even confuse him for his brother).

So in order to flip this seat, Democrats have to disconnect the two Fitzpatricks in voters minds.

It doesn’t get more explicit than the DCCC’s latest print ad, which states “Brian Fitzpatrick ≠ Mike Fitzpatrick”. This spot recently ran in the Courier-Times, Bucks County’s largest newspaper.

“Brian Fitzpatrick’s main campaign strategy seems to crossing his fingers and hoping that voters don’t notice the difference between him and his brother, and this ad makes clear why his cynical plot won’t work,” Jermaine House of the DCCC stated. “Given that Brian Fitzpatrick has announced his support of Donald Trump, he will have to stop ducking questions and answer for Trump’s reckless and offensive statements.”

“Brian Fitzpatrick’s impressive resume of battling political corruption and global terrorism during his FBI career speaks for itself,” NRCC spokesman Chris Pack responded. “This is nothing more than an attempt by the DCCC to distract from Steve Santarsiero’s do-nothing record of never having a single bill signed into law despite being a Harrisburg politician for over 7 years. It’s the same Steve Santarsiero who recently missed votes to fund Pennsylvania’s public schools and universities because he was down in Washington meeting with Nancy Pelosi’s campaign team.”

The 8th Congressional District represents all of Bucks County as well as parts of upper Montgomery County.

  31. 1/3/17: Drain the swamp??? Not in Congress!

    I tried to contact rep fitzpatrick this morning upon hearing about his secret vote to deneuter the House Office of Congressional Ethics, his staffer refused to tell me how the congressman voted on this controversial rules change, and said the only way I could find out any other information would be to contact Fitzpatrick’s office in D.C. *after* the vote took place. When asked ‘wouldn’t that be too late?’ the staffer, Mr. Pomeroy, chuckled and thanked me for my support.

    Is Mr Fitzpatrick already planning ethics violations, and is preemptively covering his tracks by putting a stranglehold on the one and only independent oversight body the House has? Come on PRESIDENT TRUMP… LOOKS LIKE YOU HAVE ANOTHER SWAMP TO DRAIN!

  34. DNC rigged the election for Clinton? Let’s think about that for just a few moments. That would mean that Clinton won because the DNC convinced enough people to vote for her who otherwise would have voted for Sanders to make a difference. That means that the DNC was able to affect the votes of nearly four million people. That’s insane.

  35. Trump has imploded. I can’t understand why Brian Fitzpatrick refuses to denounce him. Voters have forgotten about Trump’s tough talk on trade. Now, when you mention Trump they remember the guy who criticized a Goldstar family and claims Obama founded ISIS.

  39. Well, it’s a do-nothing Congress. If Santar-zero gets there he’ll fit right in. Clearly if he wins it’ll be the Trump factor, not because he’s accomplished anything as a State Legislator. Maybe he can hang out with Pelosi and skip more education votes.
