PA-8: Johnny Doc Among Labor Leaders Backing Santarsiero

santarsieroState Representative and Democratic candidate in PA-8, Steve Santarsiero has won the support of some of the biggest names in labor.

Included among this list are the Pennsylvania Association of Nurses and Practitioners (PASNAP), Plumbers Union Local 690, and most notably, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 98.

IBEW Local 98 Business Manager John Dougherty spoke highly of Santarsiero saying that, “when we need someone to stand up for the middle class and to bring investment and jobs to our community, Steve Santarsiero leads the way. PA-8 needs a leader who will be focused on bringing jobs and economic stability to the district.”

Dougherty is widely considered the most influential union leader in Philadelphia.

Last month John’s brother Kevin Dougherty, a candidate for PA Supreme Court, appeared at an event with Santarsiero.

The State Rep. is running against Shaughnessy Naughton in the Democratic primary. They’re competing for the seat of retiring Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick.

The complete list of Santarsiero’s endorsements is as follows:

  1. all rep and democrat candidates are barred from running due arresting their competition illegally i intend to file petition papers with our comma supreme court expeditiously

  2. It will all disappear when Gene Digirolamo announces his run for the 8th district.

  3. @ Isaac L. Watch out you mentioned God. You are going to lose your union and Dem card. Mentioning God is a big no-no in those circles.

  4. yeah they arent thugs they just beat people up intimidate them and firebomb property when they dont get their way! Good, solid, family-oriented thugs!

  5. Oh yes, those thugs who work for a living to feed their families, those dangerous thugs who use their Constitutional and God-given rights to band together in solidarity to bargain collectively for a fair shake when the odds are stacked so high against them individually. Those thugs who produce things of value, who create actual wealth and real jobs, not get rich off of the sweat of other men or exploiting markets and through rent-seeking behavior.

It will be such a shame to see them out there fighting to protect those rights paid for with so much blood of workers and families of workers against the onslaught of politicians bought and paid for and the monied interests that work so hard to turn worker against worker. The only way to level the playing field is to band together. Management knows that, the rich know that, and that’s why it’s so important to them to weaken those rights at every turn legally and to sow jealousy and division in the minds and hearts of the workers.

United we bargain, divided we beg.

  6. @Patrick do you know anything about Santarsiero? He’s been a state rep. since 2009 and was a local elected before that going back to 2003. How would you call him an “import”?

  7. Cant wait to see all the union thugs at polling places throughout tranquil Bucks County. That is sure going to persuade a lot of voters to cast their vote for the latest Dem import to the district.

  8. You had momentum !!! Now watch the numbers Drop like a bag of dirt! The smart play was to take his money and have him endorse The Other Guy
