Shaughnessy Naughton scored the endorsement of the Democratic Advancement PAC (DAPAC) a Democratic group dedicated to electing progressive candidates nationwide.

“We are proud to endorse Shaughnessy Naughton, the true progressive in PA-08’s Congressional race,” said DAPAC President Thomas Cramer. “She is a strong leader who is committed to supporting the struggling middle class, getting Americans back to work, and investing in the infrastructure that will grow our economy. She is the kind of voice we need in Washington, and we are excited about her plans for the future.”

DAPAC, a national group created in 2000, describes their goal as creating a progressive majority in Congress. They have previously endorsed Daylin Leach in his race in PA-13 and Allyson Schwartz’s campaign for Governor.

“I am thrilled to have the endorsement of DAPAC,” said Naughton. “I am running because I want to fight in Congress for America’s working families, I want to fight for strong environmental protections, and I want to make sure that we rebuild the path to middle class prosperity. I am glad to have the support of DAPAC behind my campaign, and their help in bringing our shared progressive values to Washington.”

Naughton, a chemist and businesswoman, is running against Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran Kevin Strouse for the Democratic nomination in PA-8. The two candidates have exchanged endorsements over the course of the last week.

Naughton secured the backing of the Progressive Kick PAC, which led to Strouse announcing his support from the Montco Chapter of Democracy for America.

Now, Naughton is once again touting the endorsement of a progressive PAC.

The Naughton campaign stated that this is their sixth endorsement among political action groups. Previous endorsements have come from Women’s Campaign Fund,

WUFPAC, Tri-State Maxed-Out Women’s PAC, and Progressive Kick PAC. They also have the support, though not outright endorsement, of Emily’s List.

  1. I’ll vote for the lady, not just for opposing fracking.
    I prefer a scientist to a former CIA-analyst.

  2. As a resident and long term Democratic committeeman from the 8th District I support the idea that both candidates present their credentials and ideas without the idiotic personality comments of people who sound more like Far out Right Wing politico’s commentary on Fox News.

Comments like Creepy when addressing our serious candidates won’t stand the muster with thinking democrats.

I know both candidates and believe that they have great ideas and contrasts and don’t want to get into the mud with others in order to prove they know how to actually govern.

Frankly, we are above this kind of divisive garbage that only serves to hold to ridicule candidates as if a run for Congress was a contest to be King or Queen of a high school dance. This is serious attempt for the democrats of Bucks to unseat a Tea Party sympathizer not a time for people to speak glibly about any candidate.

  3. Shaughnessy seems nice.

At least she has a legitimate connection to the 8th district (she lives here), unlike her creepy looking opponent Strouse who couldn’t find his way around Bucks/MontCo without a GPS or tourist guide.
